The New Guitar Book (german) - Jürgen Kumlehn

The New Guitar Book

Jürgen Kumlehn is a live and studio guitarist (he has been on tour with German and international artists such as Eartha Kitt, Roland Kaiser, Howard Carpendale, Georg Danzer, Drafi Deutscher, Dieter Bohlen, Annett Louisan, Vicky Leandros) and a graduate in popular music at the Hochschule für Musik in Hamburg. With "The New Guitar Book" he has written an all time favourite and bestselling book in an addition to numerous published books. This guitar book has become a standard work for modern guitar lessons.

The eight chapters, including a detailed appendix on tips for the purchase of equipment or the stringing of the guitar, find a good balance between detailed theory parts (Chapter 6: Music Theory - intervals, chords, triads, minor scales, pentatonic) and a lot of playing material which teaches the new playing techniques. These techniques can be practiced on the basis of many popular songs (e.g. Proud Mary, Atlantis, It Must Have Been Love, House of the Rising Sun, All Together), the style of those 10 songs range from Uriah Heep to the Backstreet Boys.

All pieces can be practiced in notes and tablature, which makes this guitar book suitable for those students without music reading skills, but who want to learn the reading of musical notation in the course of this book.

Besides the acoustic guitar, the final chapter is devoted entirely to the electric guitar, therefore the student gets to know the way of playing the electric guitar and thus a different tone.

The included CD contains play-back tracks to play along and audio samples which train the hearing and overall understanding of music.
